Reliability question

RE: Reliability question
I got the full extended warranty at the end of 2007 for $300 off.
I would advise getting one if you have had problems with your Mustang, like I have. All the rattles, and noises, not to mention having to replace my engine at 3500 miles because Ford couldn't getthe Check Engine Light to turn off, pretty much meant I had to.
I know if I didn't get one I'd run into some major problem in no time!
But if you haven't had any reoccuring problems or rattles and don't abuse your motor too badly it might be okay to spin the wheel!

Wow. AndI used to have faith in Consumer Reports...24k and zero problems? I should HOPE so! Let me know when you have over 175,000 miles on your Stang like I had on 1 4Runner, 2 Camrys and 1 Celica, none of which required any significant repairs. My present 4Runner has 140,000 miles on it and I just returned from an 820 mile trip. Both 4Runners were tow vehicles, too.
Ford quality equivalent to that of Toyota's... Oh, please... Get real.

Consumer Reports recently did a study and the results were that Ford's quality was equivalent to that of Toyota's. I have 24k on mine and have had zero problems.

1999 Expedition(tow vehicle)- 120k no problems
2001 Lincoln LS- 140k no problems except for window motors burning out
1999 Mustang v6- 90k no problems
2005 Saleen- 24k no problems
And don't be so ignorant either.

I agree. I expect to get 200,000+ miles on this engine. I change oil every 3000, don't beat on it (much) and just give it love.

RE: Reliability question
i think the anti american sentiment is leftover from from the 80s and early 90s..it'll be hard for them to shake that image, but i know equal numbers of people who have had great luck and failur with both american and japenese cars (my brothers camery that you love so much, at 110k miles engine started making funny noises, he took it into multiple shops, they thought different things at each one he went to, none of them sounded right to him, then a valve broke off and fell into a cylinder) my dad's '97 suburban has 175k miles on it and has had no engine trouble, but typical things have been replaced. and its still running great (and my company has GM brand vehicles and they are all running great with 100k+miles on them.. and you know how ppl treat their company cars...).. i know my bro's experience isn't typical.. but a lot of manufacturers now are making quality engines.
oh.. and i read somewhere on the internets.... that consumer reports is no longer able to recommend many toyotas because of failures (including camery's)... (that still doesn't mean all toyotas, they do recommendations on models, not manufacturers)

Ok, ok. I'll admit my bias being based on all the pre-'97 domestic vehicles that I owned being truely garbage. Perhaps domestics HAVE made strides and perhaps foreign have slipped. I'll try to be less opinionated (a.k.a. "ignorant").
I'm not sure anti-american is appropriate, however. We all work hard for our money and we all have ways we feel we want to get the most bang-for-the-buck.
