No way on earth I would pay 5K for a tranny with the stock 5/8 input shaft. Especially if I was planning to make power where I started to worry about the stocker.
Guys, trust me, for that kind of money, go with a 4r70 and you will thank me for the advice, I garuntee it.
Nothing beats a full manual auto - the best of both worlds...

The reason I chose the Level 10 option and did not convert to a 4r70w from Lenny was I wanted to keep my car 100% controlled by the factory PCM and close to stock. I never really planned to push insane horsepower levels like the ChevyKiller (Mark) but I agree 100% with everything he said about high power levels and this stock 5R55S tranny.
I am not stalling very high (2500 RPM) so I am hoping that factwill help preserve the input shaft to some degree.
I respect the fact that Mark pushes everything to the absolute limit and he really is doing a lot of serious mods to his Stang. I am just an old guy that takes the vert out every other weekend and embarrasses some Vettes but my goals are not to make my ride in to a 9 second dragster.
I did a lot of drag racing back in the seventies and early eighties and know too well how many parts break when you want to go faster. I only hit the track 6 times a summer.
My carwas put together by mya local Ford dealer. They were an SVT shop and they love forced induction and dont mess with warranties. So they did my KB, and gear etc and when my tranny started giving up from the torque levels, I decided to have them install a Level 10 transmission. It was the only option available for 5R55S.
So I am a guinea pig of sorts but in my situationthe Level 10 trannywas the right choice for me. My plans include a forged Livernois rotating assembly to maybe push the boost up to 15-16 PSI and that is about it. That will be once the warranty is up in a year.
