There was a post a few months ago on that shifter. It was getting fairly positive feedback....until they released the price. They wanted something close to $600 for it and everyone pretty much forgot about it.

Did some searching and found one for $470. Part number 619570. Still heafty price. 350 maybe... Will just have to add it to our list of wants for now...

Yes it's a ratchet.

Still too much money for me but at least they lowered it significantly.

Can someone please explain how this differs from just shifting the auto that comes with the car? Can it hurt the transmission?

this shifter will only allow you to move one gear selection at a time, therefore you cannot miss a shift. Also, the handle with the two finger holes is to put it into reverse/park, so you won't go into reverse by accident
