Default Check fuel cap error message

I just got a used 06 GT and it has this message that won't go away. I've checked the fuel cap and it's fine. Tried resetting it but the message keeps coming back. The car seems to run fine so I'm not sure what to think..

Obligatory trip to dealer then?

ya have them check the cap, they have a machine that can see if its leaking or not then have the clear the code.

I had this show up on mine once before.

It went away hours later and never came back. That was 10,000 miles ago!

It's not going away. It's persistent.

Guess I'll be taking it to the dealer next week then. Christ the car only has 4500 miles on it. WTF.

Probably a small leak in the evap. system. Mine did this right after I bought it. Turned out to be the fuel cap, had a bad place in the gasket.

hello would a bad gas cap cause the car to run bad and sputter around 2000-2500 rpm?

I would say thats a no.
No way the gas cap could cause the engine to mess up within such a narrow rpm window.
Any codes showing up?
