Default Cooling fan

I have a 2005 GT that i got about 6 months ago. Noticed that my cooling fan does not turn when the car is started and idling. Ive never had any overheating problems with it idling or driving but isnt the fan supposed to turn?

it's temperature based and kicks on when needed. Is it cold right now where you live?

If you have a handheld tuner you can select the temp (in degrees) at which you want the low speed (i.e. 195) and high speed (i.e. 210)fans to come on. I don't know what the factory settings are.

+1, I'll check when mine comes on but I know the tune made it come on at lower temps. Living where it tends to get hot, I'm looking for vents that can be installed into the stock hood. It's not a bad thing if you can lower the under hood temp.

+2. Completely normal, no need to worry about it unless you're having cooling problems.

+3 for normal operation. If you want to ensure your fan does work, usually turning on the air conditioning will cause the fan to operate.

+3 - normal. Personally, mine is on all the time as soon as the key is turned on but I run a lot of boost through the car and have more concern. For an N/A car - I wouldn't mess with the fans, factory settings are fine. I beleive the other posters guess is correct. I beleive factory it is set to come on at 210Âş
