I just got 20% put on all the way around this weekend. But I was wondering, is the moleskin like a must? I got an 07, I heard it was only a problem with the 05's and 06's... and how hard is it to put on??
just a bump on my question

I have an appointment on next Friday to have the front tint removed and replaced. Moleskin going in along with it. $130. The first owner of the car was apparently unaware of the scratching problem because the tint is totally thrashed on the front two windows.

Is the moleskin needed on the 08's? On mine there is a strip of felt over the plastic piece that rests against the window. I assume this is essentially what the moleskin accomplishes?

I think ur looking at the piece that rubs against the outside of the window. I looked at mine today and seen it was like felt and was confused but the part that is scratching the window u cant see its down in the door.

Do you have an 08? Definitely on the inside of the window. You pull the rubber/plastic "flap" back that rests against the window and feel the material on it and itsvelvety to the touch. This is my first mustang so it may be the same material on the previous years and is what collects the dirt that scratches, but it felt soft to the touch.

My '08 had the felt on the strip and the tint man brought it and showed it to me and said 'moleskin es no necessario.' I have no stinkin scratches either. BTW 35% 3M tint for me and they checked it at the vehicle inspection station (30% is 'da law' down here in Mississippi). The meter read 28% but they said 'close nuff'. The factory tint ain't much but it some and helps to darken whatever film you put on by a few percent.
