Do you have an 08? Definitely on the inside of the window. You pull the rubber/plastic "flap" back that rests against the window and feel the material on it and itsvelvety to the touch. This is my first mustang so it may be the same material on the previous years and is what collects the dirt that scratches, but it felt soft to the touch.

I think you were looking at the wrong part on the window. Part of it is felt when u lift the flap up but I dont think you can see the velcro part by doing that. Look at the pics towards the bottom of the installation.

What year is this car because that velcro felt is definitely not what I have. I have something that resembles more of the moleskin sample on the left. I would take a picture but the car is under a cover in the garage waiting for spring.

Ah... I noticed this farther down the thread from the O.P.
The velcro felt was something he added before. However, my wiper channel that rests on the inside glass, is definitely not bare.
Yes, the wiper channel is bare, no felt from the factory.
The felt I was peeling off was the Velcro felt side that started to fail on me.
