Default The benefits of a larger intercooler resevior...

for your s/c is pretty significant even if you're not a drag racer. After a few months of gathering data I found the following averages on the whipple, saleen, KB, Vortech, and Paxton blowers...

The drag strip averages were about 20º-30º cooler IAT's
The daily street driving averages were about 10-15º cooler IAT's.

These don't sound like too much but they are considerable considering how much heat is the enemy of your motor.

It's a mod that I highly recommend even if you're not a track junkie.

CK

Good point Mod! I had your man Adam fab me up an intercooler tank/icebox to go where the stock airbox goes. That plastic Kenne Bell reservois is not cutting it.
I will be packing that baby with distilled water, ice and water wetter between runs to bring IATs even further down.
Next will be a larger heat exchanger - either AFCO, Gords Ford or a Steeda HE for better cooling while on the road.
I want to get the most out of what I have and cooler IATs will help do that.

nice info, and thats a pretty easy mod to do, so maybe after the oil separator, this may be next, where i'm at the temps are always hot.

Me too, FL in the summer. Who makes a good stock replacement for the whipple kit? Anybody? Realestate is tight so something that goes in the same place would be good.

Thanks,

Yeah, I think this is the key question. I'd like to install a larger reservior too but not yet in the mood to relocate the batt.

Does ST motorsports have a web site or phone # so I can get one for my Saleen?

I am keeping my battery in the stock location because I dont want to put a Flaming River kill switch through my taillight/back panel.Adammade me a custom intercooler tank for my KB setup. It will mount where the stock airbox was. I had to remove my cute little Kenne Bell windshield washer tank, which I never used.

Gord Zonailo is providing a big exchager with the inlets and outlets in the right places.

He equipped it with a 1/2" drain valve for between track ice refills.
I will be installing thisduring theweek with a Lightning pump upgrade and Gords Ford heat exchanger. That is about a $1000in intercooler upgrades right there so I am done with that part now.

Yep - his 'iceboxes' are pretty trick. I have a quick-connect on mine to drain in seconds.
