Default Whipple guys - in here...

This is a post Adam made on another forum...

Ok heres a new thing Ive been working on. I have been re-working the Whipple lower intake manifold. There are some issues with the manifold at the 18+ boost levels. I have chopped up a couple manifolds already before I got this far. I have made some changes inside for better flow( I hope) and raised the ports. I ported the ports where it inters the head for a straighter shot as well. I back welded the bottom side of the runners, to remover material on the top side. This was done to get rid of the bottle neck affect. I am going to run a back to back test on my wifes car with the manifold. Im optimistic there will be some nice gains.
I also have a updated picture of the new discharge plate for the 3.4l blower as well. This is the CNC'd version. It looks awsome and will definitely save me alot of fab time.

I am also going to hi jack my own thread and add a few pics of ChevyKillers car, so that I dont have to start another thread. Check out the size of the inlet on this thing. The inlet is a nice sweep right into the blower. The inlet manifold is almost 5 inches start of the blower and 3 at thend. The t-body has a straight shot to the headlight area, so there will only be 1 bend in the intake pipe. Although this things looks along ways out, its actually really close to firing. This should start up by 2 pm tomorrow for the dyno break in session.
Adam isn't throwing out numbers yet till he is sure but I think this thing will see as much as a 50 rwhp gain over the stock whipple units![sm=drooldude.gif]

My blower is the same size but the one in the pic is just the mockup we use for fabbing.

Is that for the 3.4 or 2.3?I thought you had to use a KB manifold with the 3.4. I really don't know so I'm just curious.

It's for both. No - I was only using the KB lower manifold because I already one and I thought it to be superior to the whipple. I made another thread about explaining that it turned out not to be as efficient as the whipple for whipple's own blower. The thread was titled "not all sc's are created equal..." and has more info.

I was saving money by using the KB lower manifold (cause I already had it) but it turned out not to be the best thing and certainly wasn't 'neccessary'.

You and me both. 3 months has been forever. I'm counting the hours till thursday. Have to remember I'm still breaking it in though so it's definitely going to be on the conservative side for at least a few weeks. The rings are HUGE and i really want to make sure I seat them properly.

Even though conservative - it should still be pretty evil anyway...
