ORIGINAL: J2L06GT

I have the same cold engine miss with Champions,
runs good after couple minutes, I ohm checked the
plugs before install all ok. I used to be an electrician
at the Champion plant inToledo,Oh before they moved
out of town so I know whats involved in making plugs.
Did'nt like seeing 'Made in Mexico' stamped on box.
Anyway how did tips of plugs look when you pulled
them, I'm going to try them alittle longer, we've had
32' temps the last few mornings, miss doesn't seem as
bad when start up in afternoon with warmer temps.
After a minute or two runs fine and butt dyno still
feels strong. Due you have CMDP, I do, just wondering
if at idle A/F might notbe mixing the way it should
since without plate chokingdown intake runner not
swirling air, maybe one of the tuners could add some
info on what they due to tune besides disabling
motor contol signals, due they make any fuel
adjustments at idle, just a thought.
Well guess I'm not the only one. That sounds very similar to my experience. The colder it is out in the morning the worse it would run until it warmed up. The tips look perfectly fine almost like they werent even used. I dont have CMDP so I doubt thats the issue. I guess could try gapping them to .054 and see what happens but I dont really feel like going through the hassle now. I'll probably keep the stock plugs in for a while now.

Honestly I recommend you all put some crappy plugs in your car and drive around for a couple weeks. Its amazing how much more powerful the car feels now and it even sounds a lot better. Like my car has been sleeping and suddenly woke up ..sweet!

Update, pulled Champions today and found reason
for miss, one of the plugs has the ceramic broke
up inside the plug and it slid down covering the
center electrode. I made sureI didn't touch ceramic
when gapping. Knowing how plugs are mass produced
with the long ceramicon these unless they are being
hand assembled in Mexico this could be a potential
problem.
I read on f150 site of truck guys having same problem.

Well, I pulled the crap Motorcraft plugs out the dealer put in about 2500 miles ago. They already had substantial carbon build up on the ground electrode shield. Also, the duffas at the dealership gooped the anti-seize on the THREADS, not on the shield. I'm so glad I yanked them out. I gapped the Champions at .044" and installed them with a torque wrench to 25 ft/lbs. with a light coating of nickel anti-seize on the shield.
Haven't had them in long, but so far, no problems. The car starts instantly and has a silky smooth idle. Seems to pull hard all through the RPM range. Unless they turn to crap after some time, I'm a happy Champion user. At $4.95 ea. and a $2 per plug rebate, I'd say it worked out OK for me. Now I can sleep better knowing those Motorcraft plugs are where they belong, in the trash.
