i was wonder into buying the KOOKS custom headers and X pipe package from bren speed. I have a few questiong when you put these on will the check engine like come on or will it be ok because i hear with the O/R set up the check engine light comes on but i was wonder since it not a O/R X pipe will it be fine. Also i already have a CAI and tune but when i put header on will i have to get it dynoed or will it be fine with the brenspeed tune. Also will the KOOKS custom headers and X pipe make my car really loud i have the Mac axle back installed with my stock pipes but i guess thay will have to take them off and put them on the new X pipe if i get it. Any help would be great.

 

If you got the tuner from brent when you buy the exhaust he will give you a new FREE tune.

 

Anyone got this set up realling want to know an does it get loud when u give it some gas in neutral that what im looking for to scare people who arnt expecting it =P

 

I'm running the same exhaust kooks headers to kooks offroad xpipe to bassani mufflers.

My exhaust is LOUD. When I start the car in the garge the upstairs bathroom shakes. I have neighboors who called the police on my exhaust. (cops stopped by to tell me people have been complaining) That aside I have everyone at my jobtelling methe exhaust is beautiful, people at the car show say it sounds awesome. More people compilment it then complain.

Brenspeed swears up and down you do NOT need a tune for that setup unless youget the O2's shut off. I was still throwing the O2 code using brenspeeds tune I would juist reset it and go on, it would only come on once in a while so it wasn't a big deal.

 

so the check engine ligh does come on? also when u rev the engine and peiople arnt expecting it will thay jump cuzz it so loud?

 

I can set off alarms, people jump, some people give the finger, some people smile and give a thumbs up. Tons of different reactions.


if you aren't using theo2's sensorsand the tune doesn't shut them off the check engine light will come on. If your using a tune with them off it might come on once in a great while.

 

so from brenspeed that can send me a tune to turn off the check engine light?

 

correct, the tune they sent me shut off the o2 sensors but I still did get a check engine light maybe 1 or twice a month. I would just read the codethen clear it.

 

You will need a new tune.

Brenspeed should be able to write you a new tune and send it to you and they can disable any check engine light that comes one because of it in the tune.

I have the same set up but from LMPerformance. Only difference is that I got my jethot coated, which really makes no difference sense the exhaust is 304 Stainless. I am just an overkill type of guy.

It was also ran to 5,000rpm's so it will get louder as well. My duty cycle on the GT40 pumps started to lean out so we called it quits until we can get the new system in.
