Blew the motor today!

RE: Blew the motor today!
man i am playing with the a grenade also...At WOT on the top end i am at 12 lb of boost at 4700 elevation. Mine sits at 10lbs until i think about 5k and then it goes to 12lbs of boost. My tune is by JDM. They emailed me my tune and once installed i sent to texas hotrod and had them dyno it to see if we were close. It needed adjustment and so THR and JDM talked about the adjustments and the sent a second tune that corrected the areas which needed correcting. Hope mine holds up betting so i do not blow it too quickly.

RE: Blew the motor today!
Tune was spot on as far as Brent said at brenspeed and my air fuel was 12.0-12.2,
You should be at 11.5 - 11.6 tops on your air/fuel. If you had 12.0- 12.2 A/F that is way lean for pushing 12 PSI.
What kind of gas were you running?
Brent tuned my car and it is at 11.5 across all RPMs at WOT - I am compl;etely surprised he would say that an A/F of 12.2 was "spot on"
Only a fool would run 12 PSI on a stock block without a custom dyno tune. How dou you run 12 pounds of boost and only turn 12.5 quarte-mile times?

RE: Blew the motor today!
hmmm glad I read this thread!! I'm on a "stock" KB pulley at 10.5psi of boost with approx 11.5 A/F @4900rpm. I was thinking of going down a notch to a smaller pulley. No sir-eee!!! I want my stock lower end for a "just in case" scenario.
Sorry for the luck man...sounds to me like you almost "wanted" it to happen for that forged bottom end!

Well, actually that comment was for the guy (hotairgypsy) running 12.5 on a Saleen with 12 PSI and a canned tune.
Since you hade a dyno tune I would have expected a safer A/F than 12.2 though.
93 octane gas is not sufficent for 12 PSI either!
