The '69 Mach 1 w/shaker scoop... my favorite car of all time! <drool>
Here's one I saw at a Good Guys car show 3 weeks ago.

RE: What is the best looking Mustang
This '69 had a 351C engine in it. Saw it at the NHRA race in Vegas this past weekend.

RE: What is the best looking Mustang
I love the 99-04. It looks a lot better than the 05 in my opinion. Just because you don't like a generation, doesn't mean it shouldn't be an option. You left out quite a few other bodystyles too.
Anyways, I've always wanted a classic mach 1, but it's not ideal for a daily driver, and I don't have the money to restore one.
I bought my 00 because that body style was my 2nd fave. I hope to get another mustang one day, buy I'm waiting til a better looking body style comes out, since I don't really prefer the 05s.

The '05 is as close a design to the "classic Mach 1" as there has been since 1970. From 71 to 73, they were way too big for a "pony car". From 74-78, they looked like a Maverick (yuk). In the 80's and early 90s, they changed again, an upgrade from the prior generation, but definitely not a classic Mustang design -- much more boxy and angular. There were some design improvements in the 90s, and I'll admit the 99-04 models were the best looking they had been since 1973 -- although they look nothing at all like a classic Stang (except for 3 taillight lenses). Nothing, and I mean nothing, between 71 and 04 screamed classic Mach 1 like the 2005 does.
That is why I fell in love with the 05... it draws on the legendary styling cues of the late 60s, yet is better engineered, more refined... and yes, more powerful... than the 60s Mustangs (most of them, anyway).
So, I can't understand how anyone can say they really like the "classic Mach 1", yet prefer the 99-04 models over the 05. I would, however, understand if someone (probably way younger than me ) liked the 99-04 better than the 05... IF they didn't really have a strong attachment to the late 60s designs.
This isn't meant to offend anyone... just my opinions.
Now... If I could just find that '69 Boss 429 in some old farmer's barn... <sigh>
