Anyone know if the Optima yellow tops fit without modifications?

optimum yellow if you have a lot of electronics (deep cycle)

Red Top for cranking!

Isn't $185 for a battery a bit much? Are they really that much better than some of the other high quality batteries available?

yes!!! the deep cell batteries are amazing, but yea like stkjock said yellow for electronics like a system of tvs or something, and red has the cranking power to start it up with easy...or if you go with a cheaper battery try always turning your ac/heat and radio off before you turn the engine off, or at least before you start it back up...you would be surprised how much easier it is on battery when you do this, especially the cheap batteries they put in these things lol

I've had my original battery for over 2 years and 39,000 miles now with no problems. I believe the battery that comes with a vert is more heavy duty to handle the roof going up and down. I'm thinking whatever came stock in my '06 would do very well in a coupe.

Although the Yellowtop is a deep cycle/cranking combo, unless you're running electronics with the engine NOT running for any length of time, the deep cycleaspect is a waste of money. When the engine is running, your alternator should be able to provide whatever power you need with anything beyond the alternator's capacity coming from the battery, which shouldn't be much and SHOULD only be short duration. IF you're pulling that much power from your stock alternator, you should buy a HO alternator.

isnt the red top still better than any other regular battery? i have a red top in my 66 mustang with a 302 and it starts up faster and betterthen my 08BULLITT
ive also heard with the optima batteries that you can drain them dead and put them on a battery charger over night and they'll be evenstronger then they were before
