So compared to the other cams mentioned how would these compare?
http://www.lethalperformance.com/pag...camshafts.html

Yes the only reason im asking is b/c they are "stage 4" and im figuring the high the stage the more hp that can be attained.
Comp Cams has rebranded those. They are now a stage 2 blower grind.

From Comp (http://www.compcams.com/3valve/ - part number 127350):
Blower Grind, Stage 2 - Mid to upper range cam for bolt-on blowers with high boost. Noticeable idle, solid power gains above 4900 rpm, requires spring upgrade. Best with
3000+ stall.

Brenspeed said the labor cost of cams that need new springs will run about $1400...yikes! The Comp Cam SPR (springs and phaser) would be a little more due to the install of a cam phaser, FYI.

I think when it comes time for me to do it, I'll wait until Brenspeed (or someone) can give a email tune for the SPR cams and I'll have my uncle at his shop install them. I won't have to pay anywhere close to that 1400 for sure.

Since we're mentioning tunes, do the FRPP Hot Rod Cams need a tune? Is this something Brenspeed or Bama can do? Also, would a tune affect the sound at idle? I wouldn't want to lose the sound, but I am seriously considering these cams really soon.

It's possible that the FRPP Hot Rods don't need a tune, it could be like the comp cams that Breenspeed has where you can run without a tune, but it may be a little leaner than you may like. Not dangerously lean but having a tune would be best.

Since Brenspeed does not sell the FRPP Hot Rod cams (they may at one point if they see they're good, who knows) they could not give you an email tune. In this case you'd have to send your car to them and they would have to spend some time on the dyno getting it all setup.

And no the tune would not affect the loping idle sound of these cams. It would just adjust the fuel tables to not run so lean at certain points.

Ok after looking into it this morning i think i want the

SPR stage 1 (127400)
Beehive Springs (26113-24)
Cam Phaser Kit (5449)
Titanium Retainers (702-24)

Total cost:1300 for parts

we will see how long that urge stays with me now

looking at those dyno charts from comps i dont think your getting a fair compairison. none of the stock hp's are the same nor are there curves. looks like one of the test cars had almost 330hp to start before the cams and the others close to 300. so i think those hp claims are gunna be based alot on the supporting mods not just the cam profile it self.

Assuming you have it installed by a shop add another 1500 to 2000 for labor and tuning (maybe more!).

I decided against the SPR from comp b/c of all of that cost. Plus, I don't know how streetable that setup is.

FRPP Hot Rods FTW!

I ordered some FRPP Hot Rod Cams last week. They should be here in a week or so per LateModel Resto. My buddy is a performance mechanic at a shop. He said he would install them for me for $300 Already talked to Doug at Bama who will be sending me an updated tune. Doug said they sound incredible. He is switching to them too he said

They sound incredible. Thats been proven by the video clip on youtube when JPC installed it on an S197 with a full Bassani exhaust. BUT,I am still curious (like all of us in line or in theself debate)to see what the gains are with certain mods. No one seems to have dyno results or any feed back as to how they feel and so on...

I readon some website, which I wish I remembered so I could share, but they tested out the FRPP cams and experienced a small loss in torque, maybe about 10-15 units. But, when they installed the C&L intake (switched from JLT to C&L) with the combination of a BBK throttle body, they were able to make up majority of the loss in torque.

But, one dyno sheet from the company that is trying to sell them isnt really good enough.
