the 03-04 cobras used a T56 right? could that fit on an S197?

Exile, not sure if it will or not. You may have to do some fabrication work due to our remote shifter linkage and other things. I'm not even sure if it's possible, don't know anyone that's done it. They cant use our trans from what I understand.

Yes a T-56 will work in a S197. D&D used to sell T-56 conversion kits plus Saleen used T56s in th S281E before the TR-6060 was available. The shifter will suck at best though.

sounds good. Im not sure if i can afford the TR6060. I want to buy a MMR shortblock, whipple blower and some blower cams...so i need to watch my cash lol
so if the T56 can fit then I might just do that

It sounds to me that the only thing that isn't making this a swap worth while is that a .50 gear isn't available yet. If thats the case then its only a matter of time before the part becomes available or somebody fabs one up.

Why does someone have to fab one up? It's the same tranny the Viper's have, just a different bellhousing and a different 6th gear (maybe a different tail/output shaft too- dunno). Why can't you just take the internals out of a Viper tranny and put it in a Ford case? I'm no transmission expert, but it wouldn't seem like it's that big of a deal to me.

I agree though, until the .50 6th gear becomes available, this isn't on my list.

To the guy who said that 5th in our cars and 6th in the 6060 are the same, they aren't. Ours is .68, the 6060 is .62. There was another thread on this a while back with links to the tech specs on the transmissions, complete with blow-outs of the parts. Granted, .06 isn't a huge difference, but it's still a difference.
