I have a 05 GT Auto that is bone stock. I am looking to make the car louder but not obnoxiously loud. Instead of spending$280 on the FRPP GTA axleback, I was wondering if replacing the stock tips with bigger ones will make the car louder. The stock tips are 2.5 inch right? The axleback from Ninosport has 4 inch tips on the GTA's & it sounds good. Anyone tried this swap? How did it sound?

Bigger tips wont make it louder. You have to change the mufflers for that. Or remove the mufflers all to gether and run open pipes with cats! Maybe a little louder than what you are looking for though. LOL

I did. I had 4" magnaflow tips welded on.
I run an O/R-H pipe with stock mufflers. Love it. The flowmasters with the O/R-H was a little too loud for me. And the stock tips after having 4" flowmaster tips looked horrid.

It might not make them louder, but changing out the tips will definitely make them look better. 4" tips fill up the cutouts much better than the 2.5"s.

Try getting GT M/T muffs instead of the AUTO muffs that are on there now.
Get GT M/T take-off muffs for cheap and they will be louder than AUTO
OEM muffs.
auto is F1-7991
manual F1-7849

I read somewhere on here that the M5 stock muffs cost $70 more at the dealer.I guess the reason for the price difference is because they are louder? Are they louder than FRPP GTA's?

Are you saying that the stock auto and manual muffs are different? I thought they were the same. Why would they be different?

My Mac axlebacks sound awesome and have 4" tips that look great. I actually got mine used on ebay and saved quite a bit. Good luck.

Hey Stoenr, did the tips make any difference in the sound quality. I know it won't make it louder but does it make it sound any different. The stock exhaust volume and sound is fine with me but the stock tips look a little wimpy in the GT/CS rear facia, even with the rolled tips on the CS.

If it did, I did not notice any change.
