Default HORSEPOWER QUESTION

Hey everyone in mustang land. I just had a question, with everybody talking about their 800+ hp goals and all that is needed to get their. I understand you needing a good roataing assembly, fuel system. I have had 3 stang's myself and i love them. But.. Why is it so hard to make 800 or 900 rear hp on 93? then stupid supra's, rx-7's, etc .. can and have made these #'s on pump gas, of course they had innternals or upgarded apez seals: (mazda). but they do make the numbers. why cant a low c/r 8:5:1 3v ford make those on 93?
12.83@107- auto
diablo custom tuned, bbk t/b, steeda udp, hooker l/t's, off roas x-pipe, stinger exhaust, spydershaft, 4.10"s, steeda lower and upper c/a

Well the cars you are comparing too are built motors with force induction.

Given the same money and treatment you can make that kind of power. There was a 800HP Cobra at the track last time I was there plus a 850HP blown nitous injected GT.

Then you have a average build like mine. Forged internals with stock cams, stock intake and heads and a Paxton blower pushing 14 psi and I end up with close to 630HP. I may retune with Methanol injection to shoot for 650 but we will see

i understand they have internals as i said that in the message, but they can do it on 93 octane gas, why cant our forged block handle 20+ psi like they can ? I mean the toyota's are running 25-28 psi with a huge turbo, of course they have pistons, rods, gaskets, studs, etc, but they do it on 93 octane, this is what gets me.

Yes, just moments before they go ka-boooom! Power without reliability isn't very useful. Most of the guys in my area with fancy, high boost japanese cars are forever fixing and tweaking them, sorting out the multitude of problems that come with such a high stress setup. RX-7s are notorious for always being broken (Rx-8s too). This is why, if I want 300 hp, I'd rather get it from a V8 than a tiny boosted engine. Heck even if that's not enough, a safe SCed setup will get you close to 500hp without touching the engine. There is no replacement for displacement.

Edit: In the previous months issue of MM&FF they have a 04 Cobra with a TT setup making 800+whp at 11 psi.

for better comparison.. Termi vs Supra for power.. and then ignore the fake dyno numbers and watch track numbers after repeated runs and not the 1x then blown number.. I'm willing to bet for new car price + mod money.. termi is better deal. as far as the 05+s go.. yeah.. +1 to previous statements about reliability.. (add in fake dyno numbers, I saw a report on a 900awhp StiBS.. ask any Sti owner what it would take to triple their already boosted 2.5L)

Nice.. F/I is still gonna be what it takes. Whipple will likely be your top recommended on here.. you can do it with N20.. brenspeed did 11.32.. check their soundfiles for the kooks LT headers + nitrous + 3.73s + Cams + UD Pulleys + drag radials video. Properly driven, and right supporting mods s/c, t/c or n20 will do it for you.

They are running lower compression. If you lower the compression in a 4.6 down enough you could run 25psi. I am running 14psi off a paxton. And as far as pump gas... I am running on 91 california swill!

Just about any blower will get you there. Add a Paxton standard kit and you are there!
