1+ this car has such a huge aftermarket following that it would be cheaper for Ford and the consumer to just limit the HP from the factory and mod the hell out of the car after bought and save in the end with some big HP. JMO

Why did they stick with 300 horses!
COST!
They wanted to build a performance car and keep the cost down. and 300HP ended up being the majic number.
To get another 100 horses would have added at least 2 grand or more to the car.
They decided to make the car a sellable price point and let those with time and money pump up the horsepower - AND - it left room to validate the Shelby and SVT versions to have a sellable item.

Even withonly 300hp the Mustang is the best bang for the buck on the market today and with just bolt ons you can get another 40 to 50 hp out of itat the crank.Not to mention the fact that itis a blast to smoke $100K AMG Mercedes off the line and see their faces at the next light when the realize they have just been had by a lowly $28K Stang.
