I bought valve/rocker covers for my 07 and they didn't fit. The ones I bought look just like the ones pictured in the Ford Performance book. They have 14 bolt holes. Mine had 9 bolt holes. Any idea what the heck is going on?

yes, 05-06 and 07-09 have diffrent covers.

yea 15 bolts one side and 14 bolts on the other side If I remeber correctly.

not all '07's have the 9/10 bolt pattern. mine is a very early production 07 and still has the 14/15 bolt patterns.

But the good thing is they are all interchangable. Ford change manufactures for the covers not the heads. So the covers still line up since the heads haven't changed.

So again, if you had the 14 bolt covers the 9's will work. If you had the 9 bolt covers the 14's will work...

I'll just pull mine off and have them powder coated black it's a little cheaper that way although I'll be down for a couple days while the covers are being worked on but no big deal. I could paint them myself but I dont have the patience for that and would prefer the powdercoat anyways.

Just look at them...

The bolts only make the cover tighter. The rubber seal is what keeps the oil in. Most likely I would imagine they re-engineered the valve covers and discovered where the "CRUCIAL" pressure points were and then got rid of the extra holes cause they weren't needed.
