Should I or Shouldn't I
If your on the 4.6 specific forum a lot you may already know that I've been posting a lot of questions about the vortech S/Cer thats in the mail that I will be installing next week. I'm pretty excited to finally be going FI but I'm starting to have doubts about installing it by myself with the help of the guys at the base hobby shop. What do you all think? This is my first S/Cer, its non IC, and I didn't know anything about cars before I bought my mustang 2 years ago. Other then my CAI I have had shops do all the other work. Do you think I should go for the self install or should I give in and pay who knows how much to have a shop do it for me. If you all think I should do it what are some things that you think will be the hardest for me to figure out during the install? What should I watch out for?

RE: Should I or Shouldn't I
I think anyone that has the means and tools should do it themselves. Before installing mine, I had only done suspension work, some electical wiring and custom interior on my previous vehicle. Changing spark plugs and fuel injectors is as far as my engine knowledge went. I read over the install instructions and never had a doubt that I could do it. I am the type of person that, once I get my mind set on doing something, it's going to happen, no matter what!

You can do it! Follow the directions and take your time (not easy I know). I feel that even though I did not install my S/C the vortech would be easier an install than the Whipple. Both Moose and Hammeron installed their Whipples and have had no major problems at all since the install. The fact that it is non intercooled will delete several steps in the install..........take your time and have fun and you will learn a whole lot about the car after the install. Make sure you have all the tools and parts before starting....IMO a man is only as good as the tools he has on hand when doing anything mechanical! (goes for many areas in life)....hope it helps and enjoy the new found power!
