Dead battery at 2800 miles??
Friday the car died, thought I may have flooded it after installing some pedal covers on the gas pedal. Had the key on, radio on for about 45 mins. Tried to start it, nothing. Let it sit, I jumped it, let it run for 10 mins, backed in the garage. Took it to work that night, then this morning, tried to start and nothing. When I jumped it at work, my buddy's car bogged down a little when the wires were connected to my battery. Drove it home, tried to start it after getting home and nothing...dead. What the heck??? I am going to bring the battery to auto zone to see what is up, but a dead battery this soon?? I looked through the meter at the top of the battery, and saw no green and I think it should be green...shouldnt it?? Cranking volts is at about 10vdc, kind of low to me.

A battery can go at anytime. Many different factors go into your electrical supply, not least of which is heat. For some reason the underhood of the Mustang is hot after running and the battery placement isn't the best (in my opinion). the little green light is a good idea but it is only checking 1 cell of the battery and not all of them. From my experience, an original battery from the dealer lasts 2-3 years then it is gone. I manage an auto parts store and have changed more batteries that you count (No. It's not the guys in the orange box). If you take it to Advance Auto Parts, we can give you a complete diagnostic check of your charging system to see if you may have some underlying causes for the battery failure.

the OEM batteries are notoriously bad. mine died twice on me when the car sat for a week or two. take it to the dealer as there have been bad alternator issues on our cars as well. Have them test both the battery and bench test the alternator.

I only have time to take it to advance or auto zone to check the battery, have no time for the dealership. I will let them do a quick check and go from there. I will probably get a new battery from them rather from the dealer. If the oem batteries are that bad, then I will fork out my own dough and get something that is going to last

Have a drain test run. The Shaker has been known to leave the amps keyed when the car is shut down.
This will pull amps continously causing the battery to deepcycle and eventually killing the battery.

Tried to jump it this morning and nothing, wouldnt even start with a jump. I decided I was going to bring it to the dealership and let them handle it, but after it wouldnt start, just went to advance auto and replaced it. Put it in, started right up. I'll take the hit on this.

I just had my Duralast "Gold" battery give up the ghost. I bought this battery 5 years ago from Autozone and was running it in my 5.0. I got a $28 credit towards a new battery due to their lifetime warranty. 5 years ain't that bad. I've had extremely good luck with the Autozone Duralast batteries.
