Default knocking sound

hey guys just started noticing a knocking sound coming from the engine, you can only notice it at idle. The engine only has 26000 miles on it i know my A/F ratio is right where it shouldbe. Any Ideas? It kinda sounds like a loud tick or a real subtle knock even with your ear next to the valve covers. also there has been no noticalbe loss of power and the engine doesn't run rough at all. Any ideas would be apreciated. Thanks

Are you sure your not hearing the injectors? Take a long screw driver and place one end to your ear and the other on the tapit cover (valve cover) and try to isolate the sound and report back.

cheers

The Manual says occasional knock or pinging at idle is normal.

It also could be your lash adjusters or your can fallowers. I have had the same problem with mine. I have 30,500 miles on mine. But I have aftermarket cams also.

How old is the oil?
Thin used old oil sometimes causes ticking noises.

Check your plugs, you could be due for blowing a spark plug out of the head. I've read many people get that ticking/knocking in one particular area just prior to blowing a plug out.

The knock you hear is the spark plug that is backing out or geting weak threads allowing the pressure of the cylinder to leak past it.
