Rattling Noise from Under Car

Rattling Noise from Under Car
I have this noise coming from under my car that I can only hear during deceleration. I thought it was a loose muffler bracket, but that is not it. I can also hear the rattle when I first start the car and it revs down. I crawled under the car while one of my daughters started and reved the car - the sound seems to be coming from either the catyletic converter or maybe in side the back of the engine/tranny. Any ideas? Could the converter's insides be falling apart (81K on the odometer) already?

This sounds like a common issue that I've read here on the forum. Too bad the search isn't working right. If I recall, it's a heat shield rattle. Perhaps someone that's had this problem can expand on it and give you the fix.

I also believe I am experiencing this issue. It really seems to only occur durring accelleration and even then only as I pass 2K RPM. If anyone has any input into this, it would be greatly appreciated.
I am getting ready to take my car in to have the passenger airbag recall work done and would like to have this corrected at the same time.

My car is going to the dealerWednesday for the sameexact issue. What the tranny guy told me who drove it briefly today was that there is a shield between the engine and transmission that has been know to rattle if the tranny has ever been apart..mine has. He also says the rattle has been caused by insulators collapsing that dampen the vibration of the tranny....
I have an 8AM appointment on Wednesday.

I have a rattle too. The accel rattle at 2k sounds like mine. Then theres also a high rpm rattle but that's another story. Ford of course cannot find anything for me.
Last time the said there were no problems accelerating when I picked her up. I can only imagine the "acceleration torture tests" they were putting my car through. I never said ANYTHING about having a problem accelerating that pissed me off

The separator plate buzz is not that loud, but it is very annoying.
What I think you have is contact between your midpipe hangers and the transmission crossmember bolts.
