Cost for Supercharging
I havent really talked to many shops around here for a quote of any type. But I have just always been curious. I know how much superchargers cost... generally 3900-6500 range???
But, how much does the labor and tuning portion usually cost? How much have the supercharged guys paid for labor/tune???
And is it generally a better idea to get a dyno tune as supposed to the tune that whipple may provide with the supercharger (for example)???

This is what my local Ford Dealer recently quoted me.

Ford 400hp kit
$5089.00 Black
$5475.00 Polished
Roush 445hp kit
$5599.00 Black
$5899.00 Polished
Labor $1425.00
Shop Supplies $20.00
Misc $50.00
Tax is 6.75% on parts only, so your looking $370-$400 in tax
Roush just installed a smaller pully on there kit that offers more horse power for this years model. Both offer the same warrenty and do not void any of the Ford base factory warrenty. The roush offers more horse power when looking to keep the base warrenty of the vehicle. Ford does have that large kit but it does not offer any warrenty and voids the base warrenty of the vehicle.

for install and dyno tune expect around 1200-2000.
brenspeed is the cheapest i've seen if you can get it there.
and the whipple tune seems to be good and safe for most, dyno tune would be better if you want to squeeze a little more out of it. but i run w/ my most conservative street tune, most of the time.

Go with one of brenspeed's S/Cers and install it yourself. I had never done anything like a S/cer install before and I did it on my own. It took 14 hours but it runs great and looks great. The reason you should go with brenspeed is because when you purchase one of their S/cers you get a tune from them that would be the same as putting your car on their dyno. They have put the systems on so many different cars with so may different mod combos that you can get a tune thats almost perfect from them. My install was a little difficult, but if I had any problems I called brenspeed and they worked through it with me. Save yourself money by buying a S/cer from brenspeed then save yourself even more money by installing it yourself. Think about all the other stuff you can buy with that $1200 that you would be spending on labor.
If you don't have access to the tools I wouldn't do it myself.. after reading Brians write up I was a little daunted by the task.. but we'll see.. maybe after reading it 4-5x i'll be more confident thinking I can do it myself.
I wouldn't do it through the dealership.. If you are worried about the warranty (like you can't afford 4-5k for a new engine if it blows) then I wouldn't s/c. the amount of power those put out is pretty weak compared to what a saleen or whipple can do for you. if you can make a trip to brenspeed's shop you can save yourself on install cost.. only $600 through them.
(I might do that as my mom lives 6 hours away from them)
you should also factor into cost if you want to put that power to the ground where it will do some good.. wider/stickier tires (maybe wider wheels too) and suspension.. LCAs, UCAs, BMR Panhard Bar.

If you have the energy and ambition, do it yourself and save the money you would have spent on someone else installing and spend a small portion of it on the tools that are required to install the s/c. Once you do a s/c install, you will be versed for life and will easily be able to do reoutine maintenance on your own (oil changes, etc...)thus saving more $$$ in the long run.
I really couldnt beleive how easy it was...
The only "special" tool I used was the thing for removing the fuel line clip.
The only know how that helped me was how to use a torque wrench, or a soldering gun.
just read the instructions 100% and you are good.

If you are trying to go budget f/i then you need to build a better warchest. Some here have been lucky and DIY'd flawless installs but the reality of the subject is there will be problems. My frrp tune was terrible to say the least. My custom dynotune showed I maxxed my 38# injectors... My 60# injector tune showed I had sparkblowout, upon the installation of my accel COP's I broke the vacuum lead on my PSI sender so I now had a vacuum leak.. My point is if you aren't prepared for problems you need to wait
