Best supercharger for auto?...
My eventual goal is to get a brenspeed stage 2 saleen.. it'll be awhile yet though. There are many people with autos that have s/c'd.. the only problem seems to be a weakness in 3rd gear from people putting out 440+rwhp.. before I s/c I'll do more research on that and make sure that wont be an issue for me.
My husband checked into it with the Ford Dealer here in town - (a friend of his) and he was told - at least on my 07 GT - that SC isn't an option with the AT as they cannot get the transmission tuned to shift quick enough.

My car does not shift as quickly as it did w/o the S/C. It does shift more firmly though, which is good. The milliseconds difference in shifting is really a moot point though. It really doesnt matter. Its just somewhat noticeable if you have driven a normal auto Stang. Nobody else would even mention it otherwise. So far my trans is holding up just fine in stock form. Its had3 drag strip runs and plenty of full throttle pulls on the street.I do intend on getting a new, bigger pan w/dipstick in the near future.

Make sure you double check on this - before you spend the $ on anything. He was told they actually bought the SC back from the guy because of it.

j/k
I would honestly go with a Kenne Bell or a Whipple. Saleen would follow these two. Didn't you already buy a vortech? Any major brand supercharger you will love bro..

Yeah, I have a Vortech coming in the mail
They're taking forever though! It should be here by Tuesday. This is an old post I had put up before I got the Vortech.
Nevermind what I was going to say. For some reason I didn't see your post right above this saying you got the Vortech. Congrats that should be cool.

All that being said, I have an 8psi Whipple set-up on my 06 GT, and everything has worked just fine. I really haven't noticed much change in the way the transmission shifts. But to be fair, I had a new multi-plate torque converter installed prior to the supercharger being put in. Ever since the new torque converter, shifts have been much firmer. So yes, you can put supercharger in an automatic transmission S197, but you need to be careful on exactly how much power and torque you place on the stock unit.
As far as what supercharger for a auto tranny, I imagine most will work just fine. A lot of it is in the tune and how much power/torque you'll end up with. There are people out there running Whipples, Saleens, Kenne Bells, and Vortechs on autos that I know of for sure.
