Default Best supercharger for auto?...

I was thinking about Vortech seeing how just out of convenience that is what JBA sells by my place, but I was wondering if it even matteredsince I was auto...Are any type or brand better for automatics?...."blower, centrifugal, twinscrew"? I'm a street racer, I want to be ableto race from a stop or on the freeway, basically anytime someone gets frisky....Any ideas?

It will really come down to what you are looking for as they all will work well with the auto. If you want instant torque/power then Whipple, KB and Saleen are great. If you want something with power in the upper rpm then the Vortech, Paxton and Prochargers are great. I've had the Paxton for about 1 1/2 years and have not had any troubles. For the autos I do recommend a good TC upgrade to handle the additional power.

Sounds good, I think this was just discussed, but I'm gonna throw it out there again...at WOT youstay in the upper rpm's anyways right? So wouldn't that make say a Vortech or Procharger better and easier to handle?

IMO with a auto you want a TS running 8psi. This will give you about 420 rwhp and the trans should live pretty long. More than that and kiss the trans good bye.

By running a TS you can keep your tight factory converter and gears and still have good acceleration and unchanged gas mileage. The TS will make power everywhere in the powerband and the auto wont hurt your accel as much.

If you get a centri then you would need a stall converter 3k-3.6k stall and 4.10 gears to get you in your powerband. This is more $$ and will hurt your gas mileage in the order of about 4-5mpg.

If you want to track/ "real" street race, I.E. for $$$$ get a turbo and lots of other parts.

I would look at the Brenspeed stage 2 and add Gt-500 fuel pumps.

should be a question of how much boost to run along with supporting mods rather than what kind of supercharger will work for an auto...

The power will build progressively as rpm's increase. Power really starts hitting at 3000rpm and just keeps going. I did do a TC upgrade and went with 3.73 gears so my 3000 comes very quick so building power is not an issue. Take a look at Brenspeeds site as there are some great videos of various packages. There is one with the Paxton and you'll see how the power builds as the wheels break lose after about 25' or so.

My husband checked into it with the Ford Dealer here in town - (a friend of his) and he was told - at least on my 07 GT - that SC isn't an option with the AT as they cannot get the transmission tuned to shift quick enough. Make sure you double check on this - before you spend the $ on anything. He was told they actually bought the SC back from the guy because of it.
