Default Rear O2 sensors?

Alright this might be a stupid question but I do know the Spanish Oak ECM is more advanced than anything I have worked with before.

I know the front O2 are used by the ECM to collect values and is used in normal engine operation.

But are the rears still just used for emmissions? If I install a off road H-pipe and connect the front O2's and not the rears will the ensueing error code affect the engine.

The reason is I might want to install the offroad H and then drive to my dyno tune appointment the next day. So if I had to drive lets say up to 100 miles without the rear O2's connected, without changing my tune will that hurt my motor?

I figure since most tunes just turn them off, it should not make a difference but I want to be sure.

Yes the rear O2s are just for emissions. Shutting them off (like most/all tunes already do) will not affect the performance of the car.

So can I drive for a short period of time with them disconnected?

I installed the Pypes O/R H-Pipe about a month ago. I put the 02 sensors back in, since there were already tapped holes for them. It will run fine for about 100 miles or so, then your light will pop on. I have the OBD II Diagnostics scanner for general use, so i just erase the codes every 4 days or so. On the question of it hurting your motor, I think if that light stays on it could hurt the performance by running too lean. Might wanna get a second opinnion on that.

Unless you're running too lean, it won't hurt anything by having your tune disable them. The rear O2s purpose is strickly for the emissons BS to make sure the cats are working. The front O2s are the important ones for the engine running right.

You still need them plugged in otherwise you'll have a hole in your exhaust.

Cuzzo, you should really get a tune for your o/r pipe dude.

Well then if they are 100% emission I would think even driving with the light on wouldnt really hurt anything.

I dont see how they could make you run lean.

I will ask my installer what he thinks when i have my clutch put in on Monday.

You're right the rear O2s will not make you lean since they are 100% emission. But something else could which may trigger a CEL. It's not really good to drive around with a CEL b/c if you really DID have a problem, you wouldn't know.
