Default my dilemma

I am 17 and I am looking at a 2005 Mustang Gt that has a Paxton supercharger on it and I'm no Motorhead so I'm wondering how will it affect the cars life span, can it be easily removed if it breaks, will it break, will it have many repairs, will it be costly? Im defiantly not going to abuse this car, Its my fist car and I've been saving up my whole life and the last thing I would want is to ruin my car. Should I go for it or wait a little longer until a regular GT comes up because I only have a minimum wage job and I don't want to rack up hefty maintenance bills each month to take all my money away...

Take it off and I'll give you $1000 for it. Then you don't need to worry!

When I was 17, i beat the hell out of my car...or any car i drove. If you get a car with a paxton in it, you will probably do the same. And you will expect what I got, lots of repair bills for tranny's, brakes and exhaust. Honestly, its all how you treat it. Flooring it from a 20 or 40 mph roll will cause lots of damage to your tranny, especially in an automatic.
I would have loved a supercharged car when I was 17 (and I still want one). But if you don't care for the engine and tranny, then you won't get much back from it.

Forget maintainance repairs! I would be worried about insurance costs!!! Hard enough for me now at 23! Good luck whichever way you decide to go though. Don't let me be a deterring factor!

about the insurance my mom is putting it under her name so its less but we haven't checked with the added supercharger.. but is there a way that we don't have to mention the supercharger on our insurance? if my car got in a crash regardless whose at fault It wouldn't be covered right? or could they do worse for not mentioning it was on it?

JMO but at 17 with a min wage job and no skills to work on the car I would get a stock GT and work up from there . Not to mention how did the other guy drive with it on there? And also there is no way I would recomend a SC car for your first car . Know the car and then respect the power if you do buy it though . Good luck and welcome to the forum.

i cannot think that the average 17 year old (with < 1 year of driving experience) can responsibly handle a mustang with a supercharger in it...not to rain on your parade or anything, but that idea just gives me the *******...

I was thinking the same thing w/ just a stock GT. LOL

However, i would not buy a used GT w/ a supercharger. just my 2 cent, go buy a stock 05 GT.
