Probably more then 20%. When you are in the drivers seat you automatically brace yourself for the onset of torque and power. When you in the passenger seat your along for the ride not sure when to brace yourself so you feel a big grunt of the torque/power.

Not a very scientific way of measuring which car is faster ....

lol at your basis. My friend has had his 2000 GT for about 5 years. I let him drive my S197 recently & he was pissed. He said it was definately faster & he is currently looking for one!

An '03 GT 5 speed was next to me at a red light on a slight downslope. Before the light changed we both let off the brake and rolled forward before stopping again with the light still red. I rolled about 6" farther, therefore the S197's are faster.

Due to suspension differences the 99-04's tend to feel faster in my experiences. I have both body styles, as well as a Fox-body.

The suspension in the newer Mustangs seem to put the power to the ground a little more precisely and a side effect is they seem "less out of control", which makes them feel a little less powerful.

The S197 has a little more horsepower, but a little more weight. The New Edge a little less horsepower, but a little less weight. The end result is the two cars are pretty much even if they're stock.

Seat of pant feel is significant factor. If you drove a golf cart that could do 0-60 in 6 sec and the 1/4 mile in about 14-14.5 sec, you would feel though that is the fastest car you have ever driven or will ever drive.

I've beating mult bolt on new edges @ the track w/ a stock GT... Bottom line, the "newer" GT is faster just like the new one coming in 2010 will be (or atleast should be faster
