Default 2008 GT Oil Dipstick Level

Have an 2008 GT with 4500 miles, did the first oil change at 3000. I used exactly six quarts. Hate to admit it, but I don't exactly remember where the oil was on the dipstick exactly after the change. Checked oil last week and it is registering about half way between the upper and lower holes. The manual says this is fine, but I am affraid I am losing oil. There is no evidence of leaks. Where should your oil register on the dipstick?

haha, yeah I MAY be paranoid ever since I heard about someone who had a brand new car that burned oil and had to get a new engine within a few thousand miles.

6qts should put it where its at.
6.5 puts mine at the top of the operating level.

Sure is, its still in the operating range.
No problems in 26k miles.
I do let it drain until it drips.
You should let it sit for a bit then recheck for an accurate reading.

Just keep an eye on it. 6qts is right, but at 4500 miles (1500 since last change, if I read it right) you should still be at the top line.

Did you check the car on a totally level surface?

Did you give it a couple minutes to Drip down after shutting off.

As others have said, half on the dipstick is OK. But, if you did your change at 3000 miles it should still be full at 4500 IMO.

My '06 GT uses no oil. Just keep an eye on it and DON'T worry.
