Default what HP can 4.6 handle..NOT THE USUAL QUESTION!!!

I got back from the dyno yesterday and on my sheet it has corrected and non corrected. if they claim 450 is about the max for dependability is that corrected or not corrected. my numbers came out as:

415 RWHP not corrected
492.5 RWHP corrected

388.5 RWTQ not corrected
460.6 RWTQ corrected

so am i in the danger zone or not??????

it all depends on the tune.

I think the amount of boost is more important than the numbers. more boost=more compression=temperature increase=more chance for detonation.

the difference in the 2 sets of numbers is a ton. Corrected numbers dont magically add or subtract 70 HP. Someone is trying to pull a fast one on you i think.

AM is correct about it being in the tune. The 12lbs of boost is what i think would be a bigger factor, not the HP numbers

I don't care what the dyno said. If you are pushing 12lbs of boost on a stock motor, then you should expect the worst. The dyno could be off either way, but you know you are making a lot of power with that much boost. If 12lbs of boost was perfectly safe, then whipple, saleen and KB would all be selling kits tuned for it.

I know nothing of dyno numbers and the correction crap, sorry.

More torque = more stress = twisted, bent, broken rods! How many times have we seen a blown motor with no signs of any detonation whatsoever? Lots!

Maybe it was 250 degrees in the shop.

I'm pushing 13 pounds ~500 rwhp with no problems at this point. Car drove 2000 miles with no issues 2 weeks ago.

It's a roll of the dice really... I broke my input shaft at 440 rwhp and I know some with over 500 with no tranny problems.

IMO - yes your in the danger zone.... however after being on these boards now for 18months I am starting to believe that 450 is certainly not the cut off of safe. seems more like 500 (anecdotal observation) many cars running near 500 for a good long time with out issue

can u post your dyno sheet? temps/humdity and boost levels would tell us a lot
