Question removing stock harmonic balancer

all right i am not a shop or anything just some poor dude trying to make his 06 mustang gt fast. so i need to know how to pull off. the harmonic balancer/crank pully. i know alot of you are going to be like, put a wrench on it and turn it. well i tried that and it wants to spin the whole motor. so right now i have the bbk aluminum underdrive pullies, plus i bought a pully remover tool, and have been getting my but kicked, by my car.

You need an air impact to get the bolt off. Also,I would sell the BBK pullies and get some steedas, the bk's can damage your oil pump.

A warning on changing to light wt UDP: I was at Virginia International Raceway in August for a two day track event. On day 1 there was a very sweet S197 Mustang in the Advanced run group. Completely set up for the Track - cage, wing, splitter, Griggs suspension all around. That afternoon he blew up his motor. A couple weeks later I was at another event and was talking to the mechanic for that car (some rich dude owned the car and had his own mechanic) and asked him what happended. They put an after market UDP on it and the balance was slightly off, at sustained high RPMs it blew the motor.

Be careful and yea, probably go for the Steeda versions.

You need at least 135 psi with an impact wrench, my compressor only had a max output of 125 and it wouldn't go. I had to get creative.

I've read to put a long handle breaker bar, lock it on the ground and start the car, (pull out the ignition fuse so it won't actually start).
But I'd use this as a last resort kinda thing.
Don't even know if it'd turn over in the right direction to loosen it up...

Don't do that, it is dangerous.

on the sean hyland video, the tech makes
loosening that bolt look soooo easy. the engine
is on a stand and he holds a 3' breaker bar on
the flywheel (some special adapter is used) and with a 3'
breaker bar, he gives the balancer bolt a little twist
counter clock-wise and the bolt breaks loose......

it just seems that if the transmission was in 1st gear
and the rear wheels were chocked, a long enough breaker
bar should work....
