Post Is torque plating required

pulling the trigger on the rotating assembly from MMR, but wanted to know if torque plating is required? What the hell is torque plating anyway?

A torque plate is a "plate" that is "torqued" to the cylinder block while machine work is being done on the cylinders. It simulates any distortions that may happen due to the cylinderheads being bolted on to the engine. This gives a truer bore. Any good machine shop will use one while doing work on your block. I personally would recomend one being used if you are building the bottom end of your engine.

Why on Earth would any engine building shop worth their salt charge extra for that?
