Average MPG?
I am in the market for a mustang and just wanted to see what you "close to sock" guys are getting for an average MPG? The car will be the wifes daily driver but lets face it... the car will be mine with her name on it! I do plan on a few mods but nothing crazy so I was just curious to see what ya'll were getting. Thanks.
13-16 city, 20-25 highway. Combined I get around 21-23 as I do more highway driving. On a long trip I"ve gotten 27+ on straight highway driving. Do a search on this topic, there are tons of threads about it.
I have an automatic And while using cruise control on a trip of about three hundred miles I averaged 24.7 that was with a cold air kit and a slight tune. Granted these cars are very good as long as you keep your toes out. Which we seldom do. I filled up at one gas station and refilled at the same gas station at the end of the day. These cars have a computer that will give you a big varaince in your mpg s so careful basing your opinions on that. The pick up is great but the coast is also very good.
With all that said I don't drive it for the milage anymore, the mod bug bit and it can push almost 400 rear wheel HP. they are very fun enjoy yours I mean enjoy your wifes watch the cops!!

2008 GT Premium, 3.55 axle, manual tranny, OE 18" wheels/tires, FRPP cold air & tune.
My <4 mile commute these days where it barely wams up fully, 13-ish. Maybe 15 in the summer.
More normal "city" and some "suburban" driving where the engine doesn't fully cool down, 16 -18 or maybe a bit little more.
Highway - and I do not use cruise control, 22+ to maybe 25.
Those are calculated mpg's, not the ones off the IUP display. The IUP always shows 10%-ish too high (I don't think it measures the fuel used all that accurately).
