Question Zex Nitrous

Any opinions on installing the Zex nitrous kit on the S197 mustangs? Will it harm it at all? I can't see a 75 shot hurting the engine. I believe the kit goes up to a 175 shot. What would be the largest shot you would recomend on these engines? My mustang is my daily driver and I would like to take it to the local 1/8th mile track every once in a while so I was just wondering if anyone has had any problems spraying on these cars such as fowling plugs or anything.

i would be careful going past 100 shot w/out changing plugs. you should tune it. the amount is up to you. i am running about 175 extra hp with a s/c. so you could go that high just tune it.

I run a 100 shot. Up to 125 is perfectly safe for regular track use IF (big if) it is tuned well on a dyno. I would not even run a 75 without tuning, though it CAN be done.

Also, get colder plugs. It's a $120 investment that could save your motor.

Would you recommend colder sparks if you run lower then 100 shots?

I see that Brenspeed will send a tune for free if you purchase a product from them. If I order the nitrous kit from them, will the tune they send be sufficient or do I need to take it and have it dynoed? Also, will the tune be for just a certain HP shot or for the whole 75 to 175 band?

I would def get it tuned for each shot that you woudl be running. With a 75 shot you should be fine with the stock plugs, anythign higher though and I suggest replacing them.

A mail order tune should be fine for a 75 shot, but if it were me, I woudl get a dyno tune to be extra safe.

i wouldn't trust a mail order tune for nitrous. i had one before i got a dyno tune and it was running LEAN. pay the extra cash and do it right just to be safe. i run a dynotune nitrous 100 hp shot kit with autolite ht0's.
