Owners Manual Recommended Engine Break-in
Hello folks, a Waiter here for my ordered 06. Just curious, what does the Ford owner's manual say for recommended engine break in? Anything more than don't keep it at a constant rpm for long periods of time? Anxious to know, even though I'm not expecting the car till September.
Now I'll open the floodgates to the endless debate on what YOU did to break in your engine, why you did that, and why you think it's the only/best way to break in a new engine. That can be as dangerous as another oil or tire thread, but I'm willing to read all about it.
Thanks;
John

Here you go John. Read this and do a search on the forum for the topic. There are many people who follow this guy's philosophy and some who don't. I followed it.

RE: Owners Manual Recommended Engine Break-in
gainf - Ah yes, the venerable Motoman break in method. I'm very familair with this from the FJR 1300 community (Best sport touring bike in the world!). Many members did this with their bikes as well, some did a modified motoman. It's not for me, so I'm still interested in what the manual actually has to say. I'll do the search, and hope this boards search capabilities are better than some other boards.
don_w, after the first 600 miles or so, that's the plan

I avoided using the cruise control for 1,000 miles or so, but I didn't baby it as far as running it hard. My first oil change was at 2,500 miles.
