Default Install Tips for Pro5.0 Shifters - Mine Just Rocks!

I installed the Pro5.0 with a Hurst handle back in Jan. and only had a chance for a brief run around the block before parking the car again for a while. Needing to pick up a couple tools/supplies for the Supercharger install, I took some time off of work (as the weather was awesome) and drove the 'Stang today for a 60 mile hike (which is probably the last time N/A). Man, this new shifter is awesome!

I was a bit leary based on many less than positive reviews on these style shifters... but maybe all the little tips I accumulated and used during my install paid off. There are no rattles, the shifts are tight (and yes notchy, but that's what I wanted) and the handle is at the perfect shifting height.

Here's the additional things I did to mitigate some of the common complaints with NVH and rattles:
-Used bulk plumbing gasket material to insulate the front arm to shifter assembly and did the same thing between the shifter and Hurst handle. The package I used from Ace Hardware had 2 - 4inx4in sheets - (1/8in and 1/16in). I originally used the 1/16in, but after getting the gasket punches, I made new ones out of the 1/8in. It helps to have some gasket hole punches available (you can get a cheap set from Harbor Freight Tools for <$10)
-Swapped out the front poly bushing for the stock rubber one.
-Installed a small piece of the dynamat on the rear mount so there was no metal to metal contact. I have also made up an isolator from the gasket material after getting the punches and will be installing that one next time I am under the car.
-Contacted Steeda and was able to get one of their new U-brackets that allows the use of the stock nylon shifter linkage bushings (SteedaGus is awesome!!).

This was a great mod and one that brings back fond memories of raking through the gears on my Muncie 4-speed '68 Nova SS... but obviously on a car that handles, drives and feels so much better

I included a couple pics of the material I used and the isolators I cut out. On the second photo, the one on the top is for the rear mount and the other is for shifter to handle mount.
