Default slight modification

I'm wanting to make some changes to my 06 GT stang. I have already put on a CAI flash progamer, and some exhaust work. I'm wanting to add long tube headers, x-pipe, 4:10 or 3:73 gears, brake up grade, suspenion upgrade, under drive pulley. I'm wanting to go fast and still have a daily driver. I can reach 135 that I know of right now with what I have. I'm wanting to get in to the 200's. What advise does anyone have to offer about what I want to do. I need to know some do's and don'ts. Should I put a SUPER CHARRRRRGER!!!!!!!!!! on? What gearing should I go with, 3:73 or 4:10's?

Is that as in 200mph? If so its not gonna happen these cars aren't designed to go that fast. Also going to a numerically higher gear will lower your top speed.

Theoretically yes, but when you get up to speed, the motor can't overcome the wind resistance. The numerically higher gears let's you get up high in mph because of the torque manipulation.

What gearing to get is the least of your worries if you want to go 200mph. Think about it this way, a Ford GT weighs less, has better suspension, makes more than 500rwhp, has gearing more suited for high speed, and is way more aerodnamic.....Top speed on it is 205. Now some say it will go faster than that, but that should the give you an idea of what you are trying to do.

Going 200 isn't really a performance benchmark to try for. It's much funner to find a auto-x or road coarse and see the faces of guys that were slower around the track than you in their half million dollar cars that are capable of 200mph.

Going 200 mph in these cars is basically signing your own death warrant. Not to mention more expensive than you would believe to get enough power to do so.

The Ford GT has 500 crank hp, I believe.

200MPH - easiest way will be to sell your S197 and find a Ford GT (or similar type vehicle). The new Saleen S7 looks pretty cool and should get you there in style. Of course if money is no object, then why not go for the Bugatti Veyron. Sure its $1.2 Million, but 1000+HP in stock trim has to be good for something =)

In all seriousness, SirKnightGT is right. Trying to go 200MPH in one of these will likely on result in us posting for you in the "In memory of..." section. Can it be done, sure it can. With enough horsepower and by completely reworking the chassis, brakes, and suspension you can get there. Of course you would want to seam weld the entire damn car and put a NHRA legal cage in as well. At those speeds I would recommend at least 12 points, but more would be better. Hope you have a lot of time and money brother, and some good life insurance.

Cool lol!!!!!

Well thanks for the lesson on going 200 mph. I'm sure most of yall have figured out that I'm not a car mechanic, I understand how the thing works and I can drive. I just haven't got much hands on experience with working on engines. Where are some good sites to get good parts at a great price? I'm just trying to get as many ideas as I can before I send $5,000 on my car. I want to get the most performance out of my money.

Yeah this isnt a 200mph car. Its drag coefficient is like a brick. You need a ferrari or something. Now with brute force maybe 800-900hp it might be possible but not worth it.

Before I die I want to be in the 200+mph club. Fastest I have been so far is 187mph on a modified sportbike.

My plan is to buy a busa and put a 75 shot of nitrous on it with an extended swing arm. Should be good for 205-208mph at Macland (sp?) AFB.

I figure it should cost around $9k to do.

I recommend you do the same as it would cost probably $50k to do it in a mustang and be remotely safe.

Cool What can i say i'm new

200 mph in my mustang.... Just one more reason why drinking and chating about cars can be dangerous . I have all kinds of ideas that I want to do to my car. I'm trying to get them all down on paper and sort through them. The fastest I've ever been was some where in the 600 mph range but that was in a F/A 18 hornet. (the fighter plane). I wasn't a pilot I just got a good deal one time when I was in the navy. I like going fast that is for sure. If I was to go the supercharger route. What all do I have to change on my engine?
