Default Brenspeed Tunes for Automatic S197 question

Hey guys I was surfing on Brenspeeds site yesterday and came across what I have been hoping for some time now. The FRPP Bullitt CAI with an aftermarket tuner (SCT in this case) instead of Ford's ProCal tool http://www.brenspeed.com/3000bullitt.html

I'd jump on this in a heartbeat however I've heard a lot of great things about Doug's tunes at Bamachips for the automatic S197 GT's which is what I have. Anyone have this CAI (not necessarily the same tuner) and know if Bamachips will make a custom tune for it? I've sent Doug an e-mail but perhaps someone here has already been in the same boat. I've heard that Bamachips makes a few changes specific to the automatics to take some of the shift lagginess out of them.

I've also sent an e-mail to Brenspeed (brent) asking if they do anything different for the Automatic cars vs the manual cars.

Thanks!

I ran both on my automatic and they were very similar except I got better gas mileage with Brenspeeds

I know Dougs tunes are set up as 87, 89, or 91/93 octane with tunes named Performance (87/89/91/93), Race (89/91/93), and Torque (89/91/93). How are Brenspeeds tunes set up?

I had a bamachips tune a while back, it ran like crap, was pinging, and Doug couldn't fix it after a couple of updates. I gave up and went back to Brenspeed and VMP tuning. Both were very good and worked well.

At Brenspeed you only pick 3 octane levels.

The canned mail order Bama tune is the best tune that I have had on my car. He has the shifts points for an auto perfect.

Ive got Breenspeed tunes and they are great. 87,91,and 93.........The only tune that I have ever run is the93. I have heard people complain about the 87 and 91 saying that they are somewha slugglish...so I would rather spend the extra $2 to fill the car up with the higher octane.

Matt07GT - Must be nice to have 93 Octane in your area. The highest we have here in AZ is 91. Any noticeable change in shifting?

2006BlackGT - See that's what I'm talking about. That's what I've heard as well. That's one reason why I'm hesitant to go with Brenspeed. I haven't heard he does anything different for auto which means I'm sacrificing some performance there...

SYCD - What mods were you running when you had the problems? Are you automatic or manual?

Thanks for the feedback, looking forward to additional comments and feedback.

I have had 3 different well known tunes on my car which includes a dyno tune. After saying that I switched back to my mail order tune from Doug. He has updated my tune for free with every mod I did including my Hot Rod cams and delete plates.

Manual transmission. Back then I had only mufflers, Steeda intake, and FRPP GTA's.

Brenspeed pulled like crazy on top, but was a bit sluggish at low rpms (they made some tweaks which improved things a bit though), throttle very touchy.

VMP was well balanced, strong at the bottom and top.
