Default Just got a 2007 Mustang GT

Hello,

I recently traded in my 2000 GT for a 2007 GT and LOVE it. Much nicer interior and I can't say enough about the improved seat.

Here's the question that I know someone on here will be able to answer.

Does the 2007 that I bought from a Chevy dealership still carry the 5 yr 60,000 mile powertrain warranty? I think it does but, do you think that it's good enough of a warranty or should I keep the 5 yr 75,000 mile extended warranty with a $200 deductible?
The extened warranty (they said) is like the new car warranty, but they never work out perfectly.

For example, if I had to replace the alternator in the car, I found one on AmericanMuscle.com for about $260 if I was searching correctly. Do you think that that is something that the Ford Powertrain warranty would cover? With the Extended warranty I'd have to pay for the first $200 of that or I could get my $1800 back and just pay for it myself and install it myself.

What do you all think? (and no the alternator isn't bad, just an example)

Here's my last question...What is the gear ratio of the '07 GT (stock). My 2000 GT had aftermarket 4.10's and was a monster. The 2000 could take the '07 off the line but after the line is gone it would have run out of gear.

Thanks for the help.

Sam

i think in 07 the standard equipment for gears was 3.31,
but you could get the 3.55 as a $100 option.

someone can correct me if i'm wrong....

Yeah, 3.31:1 was the stock ratio, 3.55:1 was optional. Some lower ratio gears should be your first mod. Congrats on the new car. Enjoy!

My 07 came with the 5 year 60,000 mile powertrain warranty. 3:31 is the stock but run your vin # and see what it came from the factory with.

You could also check the sticker in the drivers side door jam to get your axle code, and thus your gear ratio.

I'm surprised you like the seats. I HATE them. They're very stiff and the leather is hard.

The seats in my old SN95 (1995) V6 stang were 1000x better.

The S197 has about the worst seats I've ever sat in.

congrat on the new ride. and if you want to know the gears. look under the car at the back of the rear diff and there is a sticker on the it that will tell you what gears you have. i thought the all the 07+ cars came with the 5/60k powertrain warranty. i know my old 07 had it and my new 08 has it too.

Nice color and year choice!

More than likely you have 3.31s. Get the 4.10s and never look back!

There should also be a white sticker on the rear end itself with what gears the car has in it. My 07 has ~24k miles on it and the sticker still hasn't fallen off yet.
