I love the appearance and sound of my whipple. Though I will say that there seems to be more saleens on stock blocks running quicker ETs. Maybe its because more people with saleens race their car at the strip, who knows. Though, I'd like to think I have a fairly quick whipple set up on 10 psi.

The HO lists for $6.7K and you can assume between $1.5K and $2K for install. I first tried a standard Ford dealership who scared me with the questions they were asking, so I opted for a Joe Heck racing in NJ. They were above $2K, but I felt more reassured that the work was done my mechanics doing that every day. I am sure others more expert have found cheaper ways to get this done, but I would caution you against going just on price.

the non intercooled v3 vortech usually will get you about 100-120rwhp. The whipple on the other hand typically people are seeing 150-180rwhp gains at 10psi and have been holding that power well. (most stock GTs dyno at about 270-280rwhp). You'll likely want to upgrade your clutch eventually but some run their stock clutch with that power. many people are now running close to 500rwhp on the stock block, good tune + keeping the PSI @ < 11 seems to be the trick... just need things like Driveshaft, LT headers, cams to get the extra power instead of just upping the boost. Saleens are good too and I'm sure your tuner can do a good job on those as well. Finding a cheap install seems to be the trick.. if you need to save money it is possible to install the blower yourself, there are guides out there.. just have to be good at following directions and have some tools and be very patient, and have some time. (like full weekend, and maybe into the week)

Damn. I was quoted $1k on a particular Saleen kit. Only diff in labor between that kit and Whipple HO is the Saleen kit had a boost-a-pump instead of GT500 pump. Boost-a-pump is surely a lot easier to install. But I'd think that shouldn't double the install price on the Whipple.

Not to nitpick here, but based on your own post about stock GT's making 270-280, the non-IC Vortech is adding 120-130+, definitely not as low as 100. Mine put down 397rwhp at only 5800rpm. At the 6500 redline, it probably would have put down 410-415 in reality. It wasn't even making 8lbs of boost when they shut down. The blower never runs out of power, just RPMs.

I paid $800 to have my whipple HO kit install, GT500 fuel pumps and all. Done at a very reputable shop. Paid $5275 for the HO kit, but that was before the $1k price jump.
