quick question for you whipple guys
Agreed, if you want to just go fast at the track, you can make a fox run 11's for about 6k (including the cost of the car).
If he is set at the s197 bodystyle then he will end up getting that, period.
The only thing that stopped me from getting a Termi is that I am a tall guy (6'3'') and I kinda felt cramped inside the termi, but that thing hauled *** and it was stock, I can't imagine how that would feel when its pullied or 3.4 whipple'd.

I'd get the termi. I live in an area where high HP cars are extremely expensive to insure. The day I bought my '06, I had gone to the dealership to look at a used '03 Cobra. I had reached a deal and was ready to sign the papers, but when I called to get an insurance quote, the premium was outrageous. As I was getting ready to leave, I decided to test drive a red '06 GT. I loved everything about it except the color. I ended up waiting at the dealer while the salesmen did some dealer trading with a dealership 65 miles away. I then waited while the other dealer drove my car to the dealership. I wasn't thrilled about buying a brand new car with 83 miles on it, but I had worked out such a good deal on a loaded GT premium that I didn't care. The insurance premium was right where it should be, and now I can't imagine ever getting rid of this car.

Food for thought. Look on websites like chicagosvt.com and svtperformance.com. You can sometimes find 500+ whp terminators for low 20's or even better.
Personally I think vs. the two options the op presented the terminator is a better deal performancewise. But if he isn't in love with the NE style and prefers the s197 then that has to factor into the decision making process somehow.

What's the goal? I'm suprised no one has brought up the solid axle vs. IRS.
This can been said of the S197, much better platform, much stiffer chassis, better vehicle dynamics. Likely better handling even without an IRS. Now if none of this matters, and you are dedicated to drag racing, then the S197 has the advantage of a more stout rear end, but the disadvantage of weight/engine.
If I could have bought a terminator for the same price as my car, I still would have gone with the S197. It's just a better all around car, albeit slower.
