Shifted Axel
So back in February I had curbed my mustang pretty hard in an ice storm. I just noticed yesterday that my rear axel was shifted to the right what looks like 1/2". The axel does not appear to be twisted in any way, just shifted. I have not had any issues with the ride as I noticed it 3 months after the fact. I do want to get it taken care of though.
My questions is has anybody had to have something like this fixed? Any ideas what this could cost me?
Thanks,
Scott

Hey Scoots do you have after market springs and/or panhard bar?
If so, you can align it by adjusting your panhard bar length. I had a similar problem after lowering my car as it changes the angle of the Panhard and forces one side off center.

Nope, I still have the stock suspension. Though I was thinking of an adjustable panhard as a cheaper way to solve the problem than the stealership.
Don't quote me on that, but yeah it could definitely be a good alternative to the $120hr going shop rate at my local dealership.
BMR makes a bar that you can adjust without removing it from the car even.

I don't think it works that way. The body floats over the read end. When you adjust with a panhard bar...you're moving/adjusting the body over the rear end...not the other way around. When you hit the curb...you bent something. Using the panhard will only mask the problem.
To clarify what GRAMPA_STANG said: (for the purpose of this thread) The body of the s197 is connected to the axle via the PanHard and only on one side. Kind of like a large letter 'Z'. The PanHard helps to "push" or "pull" the body into alignment over its axle.
In my case it was after I lowered the car, that it was misaligned and the aftermarket adjustable bar squared me up. But Gramps is right, if an accident caused you to be out of true, the panhard probably won't fix it...
