Battery Toast?

Battery Toast?
So I go to start my '05 w/ 20K after sitting for 1 day and nothing... Red light for the security system is flashing, sounds like some kind of servo moving in the dash, sounds of the fuel pump, throttle body clicking and noises coming from the passenger side kick panel. Other than that no radio (non shaker), no horn, etc....
I read threads about the battery issues so I went to check the electrolyte (assumed it was maintenance free) and it's dry. I refilled the battery and have it hooked up to a tender and waiting to see if it will start.
The noises had me worried about the water leak issue, but it's dry on the passenger side. So I assume the battery is probably toast...?? If so, pretty disappointed in the battery because I have a factory motorcraft in my 99 mazda pickup that is stock and still going strong as ever.

Correct.
Battery Toast.
The S197 stang has 1.25 amps of draw just sitting parked
no accessories on. It takes it toll moreso than vehicles of
yesteryear that had ZERO amp draw while sitting parked.

Wow, 1.25 amps/hr?! No wonder it drains the battery.
I have found that unless the battery is a sealed gel type, it's not maintenance free. I seem to have to add water to the electrolyte every few years. I assume that it is evaporating through the caps (vents).
BTW, you should never allow the electrolyte level to get below the plates.
