4.10's installed!

thanks, yes I found a sticker on the dif cover, I have 3.31. another question - I came across an article on mustangs and fast fords about problems they had on a 2006 mustang when they tried to go to 4.10 with an automatic trans, the real problem was a bad alternator that kept the fuel pump from getting sufficient voltage to pump the needed fuel, anyway they talked about having to retune the car so that the shift points in the automatic trans would work properly, there was a tie to the velocity sensors, most likely this is just affecting automatic trans, has anyone with a manual trans who has changed to 4.10's had any issue with velocity sensors and or do I also need to tune a manual trans to tell the computer the car has different gears?

I also have an auto with the 4.10's and have no shifting issues. Like Stealth said, 1 thru 3 are really short, and even driving normally the RPM's get up there quick, so it's shifting sooner. The only tuning you will need is to flash the PCM with the new gear ratio, which you can do yourself if you have an SCT or similar tuner. The shop that installed mine offered a free flash for people without a tuner, but I did my own. Just do it - you will love them !!
