^^ I have an auto with 4.10s and it shifts just fine (6k@WOT). The gears are super short from 1-3 though, but that's a given with the nature of the gearing.

Yes i believe you will need to update the tune. I do not believe it will effect anything other than your speedometer and odometer being off if you do not update the tune.

I also have an auto with the 4.10's and have no shifting issues. Like Stealth said, 1 thru 3 are really short, and even driving normally the RPM's get up there quick, so it's shifting sooner. The only tuning you will need is to flash the PCM with the new gear ratio, which you can do yourself if you have an SCT or similar tuner. The shop that installed mine offered a free flash for people without a tuner, but I did my own. Just do it - you will love them !!

Question speedometer slow?

hi there,on my 01 gt, has 3.73 gears, the speedometer reads 5mph slow,i don't see a speedcal, would my odometer be reading slow too?it has i think cobra or mach1 white face cluster.i went from point a-b in a jeep that read 1.6 miles, the tires are 1 inch taller than stock, the mustang read 1.7 miles.do you think the speedometer was recalibrated, and why is the speedometer reading slow?would the odometer be reading slow?
