Default Ford 4.10 Gears

I am thinking about 4.10 gears. Can anybody tell me the best set to buy? They used to talk about there being more than one set, both under the Ford brand name. I want the best gears with the least chance of gear whine.

Ford gears with the part number ending in A, these are made by ford. The ones ending in M are made by Motive.

I've asked on a few other threads and not received an answer. If I order the gears, do I also order the install kit, and if so, does it have the bearings, etc? AM also recommends re-doing the t-lock, should that be done, or is it not necessary? Basically, what all do I need to order to get everything done correctly. And, if anyone knows, what is the cost to re-flash for the speedo, since I don't have a tune yet. I may get one someday, but not right away.

FRPP part M-4210-B, is recommended you'll still need gear oil and friction modifier.

4.10s, install kit, friction modifier, mobil one gear oil, and an experienced, reputable installer. I don't need to go 155mph so next time its gonna be 4.30s.

+1 on the reputable installer! The diff is way too expensive to replace if they mess it up. So make sure they know what they're doing and warranty their work. Mine's still making weird noises after 4 months and triple checking everything. Wish I had used someone else.

if you can, find someone in you area who has done gears in their 05+ and find the installer (if there was no whine) if they have done it in other cars it doesn't mean they will be able to do it properly in ours.. for me i just ordered the gears, i had low mileage.. they used mobil 1 synthetic lube and used shims they had in the shop.. was much cheaper than ordering an install kit.. the place i took it to had to redo the gears in my friend's car multiple times till they got it right... then i got mine and no whine.. a little vibration at 59 mph but that will be cleared up with a new d/s.. my friend had to do the same thing with his..

I don't believe that whole nonsense of the installer needing experience with the 05+ mustang rear end. There's nothing special about our rear ends. A rear end is a rear end.
