Default Yet another tire question!

What size tires can I put on Steeda Ultralite 05 Wheels - 18 x 9.5 wheels? I’d like to go with something that isn’t shorter then factory because I want to fill up the wheel wells with rubber. Can I go with 275/50-55/18’s on all 4 corners? Can I go a little bit wider in the rear? If I can go wider in the rear, will that change it’s ride height?

Steeda said that they use 275/40/18 but that just seems to slim to me, and I guess the tire is slightly shorter overall then stock.

SpazHairLip...

What ever size you end up getting... make sure the tires are ROUND... Square or Hexagon tires wheel hope really bad!

Also... you can't put 21" wide Micky Thomson tires in the rear.. they will get stuck in the wheel well on the first pot hole you hit!

FYI: Wider will not change the height if you change the "profile" while going wider.

...make sure the tires are ROUND...

OH Yea... forgot... you gain at least 5 HP with round tires.

I keep waiting for someone to simply purchase some 27" wheels and paint the edges with rubber paint! you can't get any lower profile then THAT!

Talk about RUN FLATS!

I had to run my Corvette on the stupid donut once... MAN DID IT LOOK STUPID!

You are correct on the 275/40-18... it is 1/2-inch shorter than the stock tire.

I doubt you will find 275/50 or 275/55 tires for an 18" wheel... let me know if you do. I tried to find a 285/45-18 and couldn't. That's one reason why I went with 17's. If you must have 18" wheels, and you want to be taller than stock (27.2"), the minimum width/profile combos are:

275/45-18 = 27.7" tall
285/45-18 = 28.1" tall
295/40-18 = 27.3" tall
295/45-18 = 28.4" tall (I did find this size, but it needed a 10" wheel, and I could not find 18x10 chrome bullitts for the 2005)

For comparison, my 275/50-17s are 27.8" tall.
