RE: shift need help on shifting
do you normally bend metal with your bare hands? If not, then you are probably not gonna break your car if you are just shifting with force... you *are* gonna make your arms sore though...

I've heard it can damage the syncros but whenever I run hard I shift like I'm trying to rip the shifter out and I've never damaged a tranny. Done this on a 79 Z28 4spd, a M22 in my 77 Fire Bird, my 90 5.0 stang gt, a 99 Cobra, a 96 stang gt, and now my 05.

shifting hard won't be bad until you do it without the clutch in. At that rate, you might as well powershift it!

Would someone please define "powershifting" in plain english? I've always shifted hard. Over time, I learn where the
clutch engages completely (but not depressing the pedal to the floor) and that's where I shift when really ******* it.
I've never had any tranny problems... but the only car I had for a LONG period was the '94 GT. It had over 100K miles
when it was totaled. I have never shifted without the clutch - didn't even know if WOULD.

Power shifting is when you don't let up off the gas, push in clutch, shift and release clutch. All this has to happen in a split second or your rev limiter will kick in. Do this at 500 rpm before your normal shift points. That way you won't hit the rev limiter.
