Default When do YOU shift (manuals)

Ok, since no one else asked I will.
For those driving '05, manual, v8's, at what RPM do you shift "normally" and what about when you
"let 'er eat"? I'm assuming most are going to say "6000" or so on the second part but let's see.

I guess if you've watched and know what your auto shifts at... spill it too. Don't want to start any wars here.

normal driving conditions, I am usually not watching the tach... I shift by sound... when I get on it... you guessed it... wind it out to 6k and bring on the noise and the funk!

My auto with the stock tune shifts near 6k when at WOT.

Video was shot to hear the sound of the then new(ish) Bassani's, not to win an Academy Award.

normal, around town: 1st to 2nd i generally shift north of 4k rpm; 2nd to 3rd no higher than 4k rpm, especially if i'm in a 30mph zone. so much speed, so little road on most days.

I only shift at the recommended fuel economy points in the manual - 11 - 19 - 30 - 41...

yeah, right, when I am totally baked maybe! LOL

Seriously, With just over 600 mi on the odo - I take it up to 5k when aggressive. Waiting a little longer to (accidentally) hit the limiter.

The motors sound is so serious that at 4k you can feel kind of, well, obnoxious.

4k in first, 3.5k for the rest. That's normal, and a bit aggresive. I get good sound there (note: I shift by sound, but have looked at the tach occasionally and these were ~ the numbers). Still under 1k miles, so I try not to redline her too often...

I find it amusing that most of us shift by sound. I always have as well but I
watch the tach out of curiousity often.

I have always shifted by sound and by the feel of the car during accelleration. It all depends on the way that I drive at that point in time. I am still trying to get used to the sound of the engine above 5K. I have hit the rev limiter 2 times so far.
